Today, we’re thrilled to kick things off by focusing on OneShare Health. As one of the leading health share companies, OneShare Health has garnered quite a bit of attention and curiosity. Let’s explore some of the frequently asked questions about OneShare Health and find the answers that will help you better understand what they have to offer.

What are OneShare Health’s membership requirements?

When it comes to joining OneShare Health, they have specific membership requirements. They openly state their origins in the Anabaptist faith and ask members to agree to their statement of beliefs. This statement is straightforward and features the same kind of staples you see in most religious statements of beliefs:

  • Belief in the authority of God and scripture
  • Belief in the individual’s right to worship freely
  • Belief in the principle of sharing with the less fortunate
  • Belief in the responsibility to live a healthy lifestyle
  • Recognition in the power of prayer

How does the sharing process work with OneShare Health?

OneShare Health has a unique approach to the sharing process. They encourage members to visit providers who have an established relationship with the organization or to discuss their health share membership with their preferred provider ahead of time. The idea here is to streamline the payment of medical bills directly to the provider. OneShare Health advises its members not to pay any bills at the time of service unless absolutely required by the provider. If you do end up having to pay on the spot, just keep all documentation of the expense and submit it to OneShare Health for processing. The company takes care of the reimbursement process efficiently, ensuring that your medical bills are handled promptly.

Can I choose my own providers with OneShare Health?

Absolutely! With OneShare Health, you have the freedom to select your own healthcare providers. As of May 2022, OneShare members are no longer restricted to a specific provider network. You are fully empowered to make decisions about where and from whom you receive medical services, giving you greater flexibility and control over your healthcare journey.

How does OneShare Health address pre-existing conditions?

OneShare Health has a comprehensive approach to pre-existing conditions. They follow a 24/24 policy, which includes a 24-month lookback period and a 24-month waiting period. This means that expenses related pre-existing conditions will not be shared if you received treatment or care for those conditions in the 24 months prior to the start of membership. However, after 24 months of membership, OneShare Health will begin sharing expenses related to these pre-existing conditions, providing you with coverage and support.

OneShare Health does have a five-year lookback period for medical issues specifically related to cancer. This means that expenses related to cancer treatments, such as radiation, chemotherapy, or biopsies that occurred in the five years before the start of membership will not be eligible for sharing.

Does OneShare Health share expenses related to maternity, mental health, or any other special conditions?

OneShare Health offers two different plans for members to choose from, each with its own benefits. The OneShare Catastrophic plan provides discounts on vision and dental expenses and sharing for mental health support. If you’re seeking more comprehensive sharing, the OneShare Classic plan may be a preferrable option for you. In addition to the discounts on vision and dental services, this plan includes sharing expenses for mental health support and maternity care.

OneShare also encourages its members to take advantage of telemedicine services, providing a convenient and accessible way to consult with healthcare professionals remotely.
